The second edition of the Workshop Discourse studies and linguistic data science (DisLiDas): Addressing challenges in interoperability, multilinguality and linguistic data processing took place as part of LDK 2023, held in Vienns in September 2023. Mozaika The Humanizing Technologies Lab, has been continuously enganged with its concept, organization and logistics. It was initiated last year within the COST Action NexusLinguarum, a project that aims to promote synergies across Europe between linguists, computer scientists, terminologists, and other stakeholders in industry and society, in order to investigate and extend the area of linguistic data science. Within NexusLinguarum we have a group of scientists from different universities around the world, mainly European countries, revolving around a use case on social sciences, that I am leading. We study language phenomena revealing social attitudes and conceive methods to detect and represent them. That is why the topic of the workshop touched upon both discourse and linguistic data science, and we expect that the talks and the discussions today will bring open questions, theoretical and practical insight about the analysis and generalization of linguistic data.
Mariana Damova also presented a paper on Validation of Language Agnostic Models for Discourse Marker Detection, a joint effort with all members of the Working group.
