CEO, Mozaika
Dr. Mariana Damova is the CEO at Mozaika, The Humanizing Technologies Lab, a company providing research and solutions in the field of data science, natural interfaces and human insight. Her background is in natural language processing, Semantic Web Technologies and AI, with strong academic and industrial record in North America and Europe, as C-level executive, having taught graduate courses and conducted research at several universities and lead international interdisciplinary teams with projects on various facets of knowledge management that carried technological risk. Dr Damova holds a PhD from the University of Stuttgart, and a mini MBA from McGill University. She teaches currently Semantic Web Technologies at the New Bulgarian University and at Sofia State University, regularly reviews books and articles for ACM ComputingReviews.com and has authored books and scientific articles in linguistics and semantic technologies.
Forecasting river dynamics is a challenging and of great value task for navigational purposes. Mozaika, being at the forefront, is running a project, funded by ESA, for predicting the bed evolution of rivers using Hydrodynamic modelling, Earth Observations and AI. IMDC with their experts in hydraulics, hydrodynamic and morphodynamic modelling had the pleasure to assist Mozaika in using TELEMAC for assessing bed level changes in the Danube.
Translating human information needs into machine-understandable instructions is a key topic for the big data era. Since some years we have worked very effectively with Mozaika providing access to global environmental data to develop vertical thematic applications. Mozaika owns the right skills to play a key role in this topic in the upcoming years.
Mozaika, as a Data Company, has been an active player of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) since the beginning of the association. We had a very fruitful collaboration organising the first of its kind Big Data Value MeetUp in Sofia in 2018 (now called BDV PPP Summit). At this event we jointly managed to bring together most of the Horizon 2020 Big Data Value initiatives and the Bulgarian Data and AI community to share knowledge on ongoing activities and co-create new paths for the future. Mozaika was fully committed to make this happen and we had a very successful event!

This is one modern company with extensive experience and scientific approach in the data collection and analysis with high emphasis of their relevance and veracity.
